A-levels 2021 | How student’s will be graded this summer
Since the start of January when exams were cancelled students, parents and teachers have been anxiously waiting to hear how this summers GCSE, A level and BTEC grades will be awarded.
Informed by the join consultation between Ofqual and the Dfe the government have today announced how students will be graded and the assessment arrangements that will be put in place by schools.
So here is what you need to know:
A Level Students
Grades will be awarded by teachers
Students will only be assessed on what they have been taught
Teacher assessments will draw from a range of evidence including mocks, coursework, in class tests/end of unit tests
There will not be mini exams set but instead the exam boards will provide a range of optional questions for teachers to use in their assessments
Key dates:
Teachers will submit grades on the 18th June
Results will be published on the 10th August
Private candidates:
Private candidates can be assessed via exam centres.
A list of exam centres are due to be published in the coming days
Appeals:
Every student will have the right to appeal their grade
Exam boards:
Each individual exam board will also be releasing separate guidance for each subject before the end of the spring term to support teachers planning for assessments.
